The top two teams in Division Three are on course for a private Bradford League promotion battle as Embassy B and Laisterdyke A are far and away the strongest sides in the section.

They have both made impressive starts and the three meetings between the rivals could well prove decisive come the end of the season.

Laisterdyke took the honours in the first encounter but it was a close call.

Neil Foley and Martin Connolly won twice each for Embassy, as did Laisterdyke duo Fazal Hussain and Peter Holbrook.

But Stuart Beaumont won a crucial single for Laisterdyke against Palminder Sandhu and Hussain and Holbrook took the doubles for a 6-4 success.

It is a much more open contest at the top of Division Four with five teams separated by just six points.

Hermits F are currently fifth but are the only unbeaten team and they maintained their record by winning 7-3 against Pudsey B.

John Priestley and Granville Thornton gave Pudsey a 2-0 lead but Hermits were inspired by Norman Swift, who logged a treble, as Roger Swithenbank added two wins and Geoff Parkes one.
