Heckmondwike Cycle Speedway Club’s 17-year-old sensation Pawel Idziorek was part of the Polish squad that won two Test matches against Great Britain in Newport.

He scored a maximum 18 points as Poland won the first contest 90-87 and picked up 11 in the second as his country triumphed again 96-82.

Now Idziorek is looking for sponsorship so he can compete at the main international event in Australia this November.

Having only taken cycle speedway up two years ago, the Pole is also signed to Sheffield to ride in elite races.

He is fast becoming one of the sport’s most promising youngsters, having won the northern individual junior rider title for the last two years and the senior crown this year.

Meanwhile, Heckmondwike’s next race is at Stockport on Sunday (2pm) where they continue their series of Northern League fixtures.
