Mick Hall (Ladyhill) was the winner of the Hospital Handicap after defeating 16-year-old junior Jamie Wilczynski (Wibsey) 21-16 in the final.

Hall, who is fairly new to the Bradford League, having played most of his bowls in the Leeds League, took his first Bradford League title.

Wilczynski looked to be in control in the final, leading 15-10, before Hall’s experience saw him move up a gear.

Wibsey, who probably have the most youngsters in the Bradford area, are already on the up, and with players like Wilczynski in their ranks, they are sure to be a force in years to come – if they can keep hold of them.

Quarter-finals – Bailey Rice (Drighlington) 21, Tony Southern (Shipley Club) 14; Jamie Wilczynski (Wibsey) 21, Christine Wilkinson 14; Mick Hall (Ladyhill) 21, Andy Southwell (Asa Briggs) 19; Clive Foord (Asa Briggs) 21, Iain Brown (Wibsey) 11. Semi-finals – Rice 11, Wilczynski 21; Hall 21, Foord 15. Final – Wilczynski 16, Hall 21.
