Jack Bateson will use his European Amateur Championships bronze medal as the springboard for more international success.
The Bradford College graduate from Otley celebrated his 19th birthday by delivering three strong displays at the tournament in Belarus.
Paul Porter, the college’s sports academies coordinator manager, said: “Jack will go on to the World Championships and Commonwealth Games knowing that he really does belong on the international stage.”
Bateson beat Romanian Ovidu Berceaunu and Ukraine’s Vadym Kudryakov in Minsk, before going down to hugely-experienced Russian top seed David Ayrapetyan in the semi-finals.
