The Northern Masters Veterans' Table Tennis Championships in Blackpool was a happy hunting ground for two Yorkshire players who have recently enjoyed team success.
Steve Kosmowsky and Sandra Rider were both part of the over-60s team who carried off the Premier Division county title, and both of them enjoyed individual success at Blackpool.
Steve had won the 60s doubles titles at the last two tournaments in Hereford and Norwich but a singles title has so far eluded him.
He was No 8 seed in the singles and, after coming through a tricky first round against Ray Rider, he moved into top gear and sailed past Ken Jackson from Lancashire in the last eight and Ian Robertson from Northumberland in the semi-final, both in three games.
His opponent in the final was No 3 seed Phil Biggs from Cheshire, and Steve continued his great form, winning in straight games to capture his first singles title.
In the ladies' event, Sandra faced her county colleague Linda Simpson in the semi-finals and came through in five games before beating Doreen Schofield from Cheshire.
In the Bradford Table Tennis League, Dewsbury Sedbergh reached the Burton Cup final after beating Unity B 5-2.
Ian Denton was unbeaten for Sedbergh and they will play either Highdale B or Dewsbury Tog in the final.
