Right on Cue

The final fixtures in Division Three of the Yorkshire Inter-District Snooker League take place this weekend, with Bradford No 2 in prime position for automatic promotion.

With outstanding matches now played by all the teams, Bradford head the table by one point after defeating Selby 5-1 at Manningham Ward.

Boover Singh won both frames by narrow margins against Daz Hawkins, 69-57 and 56-53, with Tanveer Mohammed comfortably winning both his against Richard Bresnan, 68-22 and 77-43.

Captain Hanif Rafiq went down 59-38 in the first frame against Selby captain Kev Hawksworth but recovered to take a vital frame 77-24.

Three points at Huddersfield on Sunday should be enough to see the team finish in the top two, as second and third play each other.

Positions after nine matches is as follows: Bradford No 2 32pts, Brighouse No 2 31, Wakefield No 2 31, Huddersfield 26, Wakefield No 1 25, Selby 17.

The draw for the semi-finals of the Bradford Snooker Pairs has been made, with defending champions Gareth and Anthony Green from Lifeline Leisure drawn to play Clayton Libs duo Mark Slater and Jason Murgatroyd, while an all Undercliffe Cricket club contest sees Kevin Firth and Dave Stirk taking on Peter Hamilton and Josh Walker. Dates will be announced in due course.

The Hey’s Trophy and Hopkinson Plate quarter-finals get underway tonight with second legs next Thursday.
