Bradford No 1 are sitting pretty at the top of Division One of the Yorkshire Inter-District League.

Their latest victims were Castleford No 1 at Undercliffe Cricket Club on Sunday.

Wayne Cooper got the team off to the perfect start, taking little time to bank the opening frame 78-11 against Andy Howard – a break of 72 securing the win.

The second frame was more disjointed but Cooper took it 69-19.

Captain Kevin Firth then made a break of 83 (114-1) to put the home side three up but opponent Daniel Womersley made a solid 32 break to claw one back (85-52).

Mark Slater had too much firepower in his first frame against Lee Brooks, taking it 83-9, and despite a 30 break from his Castleford opponent, Slater cleared 25 points on the colours to steal the last frame on the black 52-44 for a 5-1 home victory.

The side are in action again this Sunday (7.30pm), again at Undercliffe Cricket Club, when they take on second-placed Harrogate.

Bradford No 2 are scheduled to be at Brighouse 2 this weekend in Division Three, while the in-form billiards side travel to the Northern Snooker Centre to take on Leeds on Saturday.

The Moorhouse Shield has now been drawn, with first-round matches as follows: Chapel Green Libs v Wibsey Libs; Queensbury Cons v Great Horton Cons; Clayton Rugby Club B v Lilycroft WMC; Eastbrook v Clayton Rugby Club A.

The first leg is expected to take place on December 13, with the second leg in January. Details will be sent out to all clubs involved over the next week or so.

This also applies to the Heys Trophy, where draw details, scoresheets and handicaps will be sent out prior to first-round matches on November 29.
