A team of young divers from Bradford won nine medals in a competitive four-day event at The Quays Diving Complex in Southampton.

The team of 13, which included nine members of Bradford Esprit Diving Club, took part in the Southampton Invitational against other national teams.

The team won two gold medals courtesy to Holly Waxman and Ruby Bower, and two silver medals from Max Roper and Ryan Coones.

Holly, Kamran Hamard, Roper and William Hallam also secured five bronze medals for the team.

Holly finished the event as top female diver for her outstanding performances, during which she featured in three finals and won a medal in each. Max finished as top male diver for his two medals.

Overall the team had a total of 23 top-six finishes in the 24 finals.

Ian Bairstow, Bradford Council’s Strategic Director for Environment and Sport, said: “The team have worked extremely hard to gain an impressive number of well-deserved achievements.”

Bradford Esprit Diving Club is the competitive outlet for Bradford Council’s Sport and Leisure Service’s coaching and training scheme.
