EAMON O’Carroll has urged his side to bounce back from last week’s setback at York, with the Bulls welcoming Betfred Championship high-flyers, Widnes Vikings to Odsal this Sunday.

An underwhelming performance saw Bradford fall to their second defeat of the season, as the hosts eventually ran out 25-14 winners.

The Bulls have the chance to make amends when Widnes come to town on Sunday, and despite the frustration of losing at York, O’Carroll admitted that the group have been able to remain positive at the Tong training base this week.

He said: “Tuesday was a difficult day because we had to review the performance (against York).

“It’s always an honest review; everyone’s accountable and a number of the boys spoke up which is good. We get a lot out of the video as we know we want to be better.

O’Carroll added: “I said to the lads that the connection this group has had throughout the season has been fantastic so far, but when you come off the back of a loss, a really disappointing one, the top teams stick together.

“So, it’s a big test for us to see how connected we can stay together, but I’m confident in the group that they’ll do that.

“Of course, that game (York) is behind us now, but we will still hold onto some of it as we want to learn our lessons. We can’t just dismiss it.”

O’Carroll admitted to being extremely confident in his side’s ability to bounce back from defeat, having seen the Bulls do exactly that after their opening night loss at Wakefield Trinity.

He said: “Absolutely, I have confidence.

“Like I’ve said in the past, we want to be a top team and top teams handle defeats really well. They learn their lessons and more importantly, they respond, so I’m very confident we’ll do that.”
