BRADFORD Bulls have welcomed a whole host of young talents on to their women and girls’ pathway, following their inaugural development trials last month.

That includes four prospects from Queensbury ARLFC, with Abigail Liu, Lloretta-Clare Moorhouse and Kelsie Sharpe all being successful at the trials and Freya Holmes being taken on for a two-month trial period.

Five young women from Stanningley ARLFC have made the grade, in Monina Crosby, Ella Hudson, Jasmine Murray, Brydie Scurrah-Wilkinson and Hollie Tierney.

West Bowling ARLFC’s Paigan Taylor also makes the grade.

The other successful talents are Louisa Tuton and Lilly Simpson, both of Greetland All Rounders, Farnley Falcons’ Brianna Waud and Holly Rycroft from Featherstone Lionesses.

Joining Freya Holmes on the two-month trial period are Farnley Falcons trio Freya Burn, Lily Walton and Amber North, Kasie Elliott of Featherstone Lionesses and Greetland’s Ava Shea.

The club are making a real effort to invest in their women’s programme, which has unfortunately dropped off in recent years since the high of winning the inaugural Women’s Super League in 2017, as well as the Women’s Challenge Cup to achieve a superb double.

The club will hope to be competitive in the Women’s Northern Championship this season, in which they have played twice so far, winning 28-22 against Stanningley and losing 22-8 to the Oulton Raidettes.

Their last game in that competition came on March 10, as for the last month, they have been in Challenge Cup action.

They started out by losing 52-4 to Women’s Super League side Warrington, and were then unable to raise a squad for their clash with St Helens.

Saints were awarded the win, meaning Bulls could no longer qualify from Group 3, and their campaign ended in the capital on Sunday, as hosts London Broncos, who play in the Women’s Southern Championship this season having won last year’s Women’s Super League South, triumphed 48-0 at Rosslyn Park.
