JOE Root completed a fourth career double century during the third morning of Yorkshire’s Specsavers County Championship clash with Surrey at Headingley, but the England man fell for 213.
Yorkshire’s bid for a first win of the season has been held up by the rain, which prevented any play beyond 12pm.
They advanced from 486-5 overnight to 557-6, which meant 71 runs came in 13.2 overs of play this morning on the way to a 227-run lead.
Root added 23 to his overnight score to move to 213 before getting a leading edge off Ravi Rampaul to mid-off courtesy.
Adil Rashid reached his fifty off 70 balls and will resume on 60. He has, however, been dropped twice today.
