MIDDLESEX, led by centurion Nick Compton, are frustrating Yorkshire during the third day of their LV= County Championship match at Lord’s. They now have a lead of 168 with four second-innings wickets in hand.
A White Rose victory is no longer a formality after gaining a first-innings lead of 193 and reducing the hosts to five wickets down and still 50 runs behind during yesterday’s second afternoon.
Compton shared a sixth-wicket stand of 150 inside 39 overs with captain James Franklin, helping Middlesex gain a lead of 100.
Ryan Sidebottom took the only wicket of the third morning when he trapped Franklin lbw for 63, leaving the score at 293-6.
Compton, who reached 100 off 178 balls, has since shared 68 unbroken with John Simpson to take the score to 361-6 from 110 overs at lunch.
