JONNY Bairstow continued his fine form for Yorkshire as he reached tea against Worcestershire unbeaten on 105.

The wicketkeeper, who has now made five centuries this season, shared in an unbroken stand of 171 with captain Andrew Gale as the Tykes reached the interval on 228-3.

Gale registered a half-century of his own before the break as he continued his fine personal record at Scarborough and helped the home side take control against the Pears.

Earlier, having elected to bat first following an hour-long delay to the start of play, Yorkshire lost three early wickets in the morning session.

Openers Will Rhodes and Alex Lees fell in almost identical fashion as they both edged attempted drives off Joe Leach through Ross Whiteley at first slip.

Jack Leaning was then adjudged lbw for 17 to become Leach’s third wicket to leave the hosts on 57-3 before Bairstow and Gale led the recovery.
