ANDREW Gale and Jack Leaning shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 112 inside 29 overs to help Yorkshire gain a position of strength in reply to 224 during today’s afternoon session against Nottinghamshire.
The visitors enjoyed the best of the second morning until Stuart Broad bowled Alex Lees shortly after lunch, leaving Yorkshire at 51-3.
Gale and in-form Leaning then regained the initiative and Yorkshire reached tea at 163-3 from 50 overs. Gale resumed this evening on 67 and Leaning on 50.
Skipper Gale completed an 87-ball fifty midway through the session, before Leaning reached his off 77 shortly before tea.
