Yorkshire advanced towards a title-winning victory over Nottinghamshire after claiming another four wickets on the third morning of their LV= County Championship match at Trent Bridge.

A wicket apiece for Jack Brooks and Ryan Sidebottom, followed by two wickets in an over from Adil Rashid, left Nottinghamshire struggling on 139-8 at lunch, still needing a further 244 runs to avoid the follow on.

Nottinghamshire had resumed the third morning already in trouble at 58-4 and lost their first wicket in the fifth over of the day, with Brooks ending Michael Lumb’s 78 minutes of defiance when he shouldered arms and was given lbw when the ball brushed the top of his pad.

Sidebottom followed that early breakthrough by exploiting extra bounce, which surprised Riki Wessels enough to edge behind five overs later.

But after those two early successes, Yorkshire had to wait a further 16 overs before leg-spinner Rashid made the double breakthrough, with Luke Fletcher outwitted by a leg-break, his attempted drive flying high in the air for Brooks to take a running catch at cover.

After breaking that 41-run stand between Fletcher and Chris Read, Rashid struck again five balls later and won an lbw appeal against Jake Ball with his googly to put Yorkshire firmly on course for their championship celebrations.
