WITH many cricket clubs in the Keighley, Shipley and Calderdale areas being under water, an emergency fund has been set up by the Yorkshire Cricket Board in conjunction with the ECB in order to help those hit by the Boxing Day floods.

League clubs affected around the county have been urged to apply to YCB executive director Andrew Watson for aid.

Watson said: "We have established an emergency fund to support affected clubs.

"In terms of the process for clubs affected, if either individual clubs or leagues can send me the following, I can start a case file and get in touch with them about emergency funding: key contact information, including names, e-mails, mobile numbers and a correspondence address; details of the damage; what is insured (and has this been assessed); what is uninsured; what is immediately resolvable; what may be longer term (such as damage to playing surfaces); cost estimates where available; and photographs (where available)."

Information can be e-mailed to Andrew at a.watson@yorkshirecb.com.

The YCB will begin the funding process this week.

Affected clubs include Bradford & Bingley and Saltaire in the All Rounder Cricket Equipment ECB Bradford Premier League, Airedale, Bingley Congs, Haworth Road and Riddlesden in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League, Greenfield and Apperley Bridge in the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League, Tong Park Esholt and Shipley Providence in the Dales Council League and Bridgeholme, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge, Copley and Greetland in the Foster's Halifax League.

The ECB can also provide advice and support on such things as significant damage to buildings and machinery, or sediment and waste deposited on outfields and squares.

In the event of severe disruption (for example if the club was at risk), emergency funding is available.
