BRADFORD & Bingley have the opportunity to be party-poopers as the thrilling battle for the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League title reaches its climax.

Leaders Pudsey St Lawrence currently head nearest rivals Hanging Heaton by four points with two games to go and both sides have to play the Wagon Lane outfit.

Hanging Heaton host Bradford & Bingley tomorrow, while St Lawrence are at home to them on the final day.

Both contenders will be well aware that Scott Etherington's sixth-placed side are capable of upsetting the odds.

On Twenty/20 finals day they turned up as outsiders and beat both Saints and Hanging Heaton to lift the trophy.

If that is not enough to worry the title-chasing duo, Bradford & Bingley also beat this weekend's opponents Hanging Heaton by ten runs in the Priestley Cup quarter-finals and won the Twenty/20 Cup on St Lawrence's own Tofts Road ground.

Their cricket chairman Adam Swallow says of the task facing his side: "They are two good sides and they will be two hard matches. We will be trying to get as much as we can out of them."

For Bradford & Bingley, 2016 has been a battle as off the field they had to cope with the terrible devastation caused by the Boxing Day floods.

If that wasn't enough of a problem, they saw three key members of their 2015 Priestley Cup-winning side depart – skipper Phil Slater, Chris Thompson and Matthew Simpson.

They have also had to play much of the second half of the campaign without two of their most promising players, Matthew Walker (knee reconstruction) and Jack Hartley (shoulder reconstruction).

Swallow said: "Our great team spirit has kept us going. Skipper Scott Etherington has done a great job and winning a trophy has been a bonus."

St Lawrence will be hoping they are not suffering any after effects from their 115-run Priestley Cup final defeat by Woodlands as they face a banana skin when visiting a Morley side fighting to avoid relegation.

If either Saints or Hanging Heaton slip up, then third-placed Farsley still have a mathematical chance of taking the title. They are away to a Woodlands side beginning life without overseas all-rounder Sarfraz Ahmed.

Bottom team Scholes need to beat New Farnley to keep their slim hopes of avoiding relegation alive, while East Bierley and Lightcliffe – both in need of points – meet at South View Drive. The same is true of Pudsey Congs, who visit Cleckheaton.
