PRIESTLEY Cup holders Bradford & Bingley earned a home semi-final against Woodlands after defeating Hanging Heaton by ten runs in their delayed third-round tie.

The match-winner was opening batsman Jack Edgar, who made a sparkling 115 which enabled his side to recover from 42-3 to post a score of 233-8.

Edgar struck six sixes and seven fours and was given good support by Matthew Walker, whose 47 came from 41 balls.

Paceman Tom Chippendale was the best of the Hanging Heaton bowlers with 4-38 but even he could not prevent the home side from posting a challenging score.

Hanging Heaton were given a good start as skipper Gary Fellows (41) and Nick Connolly (31) shared an opening stand of 74 but their colleagues were unable to capitalise on it.

Despite ten of their batsmen making double-figure contributions, Hanging Heaton were bowled out for 223. The best of the Bingley bowlers was spinner Noman Ali, who took 2-21 in his ten overs.

The last remaining third-round tie, Scholes v Lightcliffe, will be played at New Popplewell Lane on Sunday.
