THE bad weather meant that Undercliffe missed out on a chance to claw back some All Rounder Bradford Premier League points on beaten Championship A Division leaders Batley.

Zeeshan Qasim took 5-32 and skipper Michael Kelsey picked up 3-27 as Saltaire were bowled out for 143 – and Undercliffe were going well at 81-2 when rain brought an early finish.

The match at Batley was the only one not to be curtailed by the elements and it helped them to remain 18 points clear of Undercliffe, despite losing a low-scoring game against Hunslet Nelson.

Nelson were dismissed for just 72 as Muhammed Shahnawaz took 5-22 and Tariq Hussain 3-14, yet Batley could only reply with 63 as skipper Will Stiff bagged 5-22.

Salman Sayed made 90 as neighbours Birstall posted a challenging 245-6 before their match against Idle was abandoned.

It was a similar story at Baildon where the home side scored 152, with Jonny Reynolds making 69 before rain prevented Idle's reply from starting.

The experienced Damon Gormley made 61 and opener Jake Wray 48 as Yeadon posted 215-7 against Ossett, who had reached 101-5 when play was abandoned.

Surprise of the day in Championship B Division was Brighouse defeating Methley to notch their first win of the season, with Awaise Hussain (47) and Mustafa Bhatti (42no) enabling Brighouse to chase down their opponents' 146.

Skipper Grant Soames (53) and Harry Anderson (40) top-scored for Methley, while Zafar Jadoon (4-41) and Aleem Ladak (3-42) bowled well for Brighouse in Methley's second defeat in a row.

Bottom team Hartshead Moor also registered their first victory as they defeated Altofts by eight wickets after dismissing their opponents for just 65, with Nasseer Saudagar taking 5-27 and Daniel Squire 3-21.

Openers James Hardcastle (25) and Richard Ferry (25) ensured their side reached their target with ease.

Young spinner Alex Leadbeater took 4-15 as Spen Victoria bowled out Gomersal for 93 to secure a 115-run win in their derby at Oxford Road.

Leadbeater was backed up by Evan Edwards (3-21) as Victoria wrapped up their third win of the season by successfully defending a total of 208, in which skipper Oliver Davison (38) and Nick Montgomery (34) were the main contributors.

Richard Wear took 6-63 for Gomersal but his efforts were not capitalised on.

Bowling Old Lane made the day's highest score of 328-7 before rain halted their game at Bankfoot.

Farakh Hussain (92), Abid Alishan (80), Sadqat Zaman (50no) and Adal Islam (47) all made sizeable contributions.
