BRADFORD & Bingley batsman Noman Ali smashed his way to a Priestley Cup record.

The overseas player hit six sixes in an over in his side's All Rounder Bradford Premier League first-round victory at home to Liversedge.

The unfortunate bowler was former East Bierley and Buttershaw St Paul's left-arm spinner Matthew Barnes.

Ali made 67 off 35 balls, which included one other six and three fours, and he added 115 for the fourth wicket with Charlie Best (94) in their 308, off-spinner Stephen Lane taking 3-45.

Liversedge replied with 222-9, No 4 Paul Marlow hitting an unbeaten 105 as Hamzah Iqbal took 4-41.

Yeadon and Methley pulled off shock results as both defeated Premier Division opposition.

Championship Division A side Yeadon toppled Farsley by 20 runs, while Championship B outfit Methley overcame East Bierley by three wickets.

Opener James Todd was Yeadon's hero with an unbeaten 118 (four sixes, 12 fours) as they recovered from 18-3 to 208-9.

In Farsley's reply, Matthew Green and skipper Mark Harrison were dismissed without a run on the board in an eventful first over from Oliver Halliday (3-28).

Ryan Cooper, a cup winner with Bradford & Bingley last season, made a determined 104 (four sixes, nine fours) but only overseas player Arthur Price (36) came to his aid.

Overseas player Samuel Mofokeng (5-29) was the toast of Methley in their hard-earned triumph over East Bierley. Robert Barker top-scored with 36 in Bierley's 190, which Methley overcame with 4.2 overs to spare.

Methley skipper Grant Soames made an important 49, while Sohail Raz's unbeaten 36 ensured there were no late slip-ups. Spinner Luke Jarvis (3-28) was again best for Bierley.

There was last-ball drama as Woodlands edged a two-wicket win over Premier Division rivals New Farnley to avenge their Heavy Woollen Cup exit of seven days earlier.

Cumberland batsman Logan Weston (53) and wicketkeeper Greg Finn (51) helped Woodlands chase down Farnley's 231-9.

All-rounders Richard Atkins (67) and James Middlebrook (51) were the main contributors for Farnley as Sarfraz Ahmed took 4-53.

There was also a close finish in the all-Premier Division clash at Scatcherd Lane, Scholes defeating Morley by five runs.
