SULEMAN Khan hit an unbeaten 121 from just 89 balls as Lightcliffe completed a stunning run chase to inflict a first defeat of the season on Hanging Heaton in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League top flight.

Khan smashed eight sixes and eight fours as his side overhauled Hanging Heaton's daunting total of 320-6 with four balls to spare to win by six wickets.

Former Hanging Heaton batsman Ian Philliskirk (76) and Alex Stead (58) set the tone for the Lightcliffe innings with a second-wicket stand of 127.

Their good work was capitalised on by Khan and Rhys Jowett (43) in a fourth-wicket alliance of 106 which enabled Lightcliffe to pull off their second win of the season.

Hanging Heaton set the tone for a match which produced 643 runs for the loss of ten wickets when their openers Gary Fellows and Nick Connolly both made fine centuries. Each batsman scored 113 in a stand of 216. Fellows struck 13 fours and four sixes while making his second hundred of the campaign while Connolly's innings contained four sixes and 11 fours.

The defeat saw Hanging Heaton surrender top spot to Pudsey St Lawrence. The defending champions overcame a middle-order collapse to beat rock-bottom Scholes by 81 runs.

St Lawrence's match winner was Richie Lamb. He made a vital 35 not out with the bat as he helped skipper James Smith (40) rescue his side from 105-7 as Yasir Ali (4-44) took a hat-trick. Their eventual total of 194-9 proved out of Scholes' reach as they were dismissed for 113 with Lamb taking 5-28. Irfan Amjad provided the only resistance with an unbeaten 60.

Cleckheaton are third after an efficient performance saw them cruise to an eight-wicket win over New Farnley. Simon Lambert, New Farnley's winter signing from York, top-scored with 42 as his side were bowled out for 118. Spinner Andrew Deegan (3-13) and swing bowler Sam Wilson (3-41) did the damage.

Cleckheaton wasted no time knocking off the runs. They reached their target in 15.2 overs with skipper John Wood (48), Andy Gorrod (31) and Chris Holliday (30no) leading the way.

Morley's Kashif Naveed made the day's highest individual score in the top flight of 137 after arriving at the crease with his side in some strife at 12-3 against Bradford & Bingley. Naveed seized the initiative by striking nine sixes and 11 fours and that enabled Morley to post a score of 207-8. Bradford & Bingley's reply never got going as paceman Matthew Dowse took 4-30 and Naveed 2-15 to dismiss them for 108. Morley's 99-run victory was their second of the campaign.

Woodlands put their recent sticky run behind them as they posted a score of 313-6 on their way to a 183-run win over old foes Pudsey Congs.

The man who secured their success was former Congs off-spinner Kez Ahmed. He took 5-24 as the last seven Congs wickets fell for 29 as they were all out for 130. Skipper Gareth Phillips (46) and Joe Greaves (31) were the only batsmen to threaten the dominance of the home bowlers.

Woodlands' new skipper Tim Jackson (97) led from the front as his side made their highest total of the season. An opening stand of 96 with Sam Frankland (36) was followed by a second-wicket partnership of 124 with Cumberland batsman Alex Atkinson (65). The best of the bowlers for Congs was Muhammad Saeed (4-72).

Farsley recorded their second victory of the season at the expense of an East Bierley side still looking for their first win. The Red Lane outfit triumphed by 12 runs.

Skipper Dan Hodgson (78) and Greg Pickles (70) shared a third-wicket alliance of 150 which enabled Farsley to make 280-8 despite the efforts of left-arm spinner Luke Jarvis (5-101) and seamer Tauseef Arshad (3-70).

East Bierley made a spirited reply with their close-season signing Fahid Rehman again catching the eye. He top-scored with 93 and was joined in a second-wicket stand of 100 by former Yorkshire all-rounder Gavin Hamilton (45). The experienced Mark Gill chipped in with 45, but Adam Ahmed (3-40) and Chris Henry (3-67) ensured that Farsley secured victory.
