WRENTHORPE bounced back from their one-wicket defeat at Bankfoot to score a six-wicket win over old rivals Methley in the All Rounder Bradford League Championship B.

Overseas player Darryl Hendricks proved to be their match winner with a stylish unbeaten 110 as they chased down an impressive Methley total of 295-5, which included a magnificent 143 not out from their skipper Grant Soames.

Hendricks, who struck a six and 16 fours, shared an opening stand of 149 with skipper Andrew Bourke 77 which provided the perfect platform for the successful run chase.

Luke Patel continued his good form with an unbeaten 70 as the target was reached with 3.1 overs to spare.

Defeat was hard on Soames. After hitting three sixes and 20 fours in his first century for his new club, he followed up with 3-69 with his off spin but could not Wrenthorpe’s relentless march to victory. Soames also shared in a fourth-wicket stand of 163 with Ashton Blakey (64).

Leaders Townville continued on their winning ways with a six-wicket win over Bowling Old Lane. Overseas player Matthew Bremner (80) and Jack Hughes (59) were again the key figures in the successful pursuit of Old Lane’s 200.

Farakh Hussain (55) and skipper Amjid Hussain (47) were the top scorers for Old Lane against a Townville attack in which Kulpreet Chhabra (4-47) and Jack Hebden (3-57) impressed.

The day’s highest score was the 324-4 Hopton Mills made on their way to a 135-run win over Hartshead Moor.

It was a total which included the season’s highest individual score of 171 not out from their South African player Louren Steenkamp. He hit nine sixes and 19 fours and was joined in a fourth-wicket stand of 144 by Andrew Grey (81).

Craig Field dominated the Hartshead Moor reply of 189 with a fine knock of 90, but it wasn’t enough to spare his side from a resounding defeat.

A fifth-wicket stand of 132 between Arman Hussain (85) and Will Smith (69no) helped Carlton to chase down an Altofts total of 231-7 and record a five-wicket win.

Callum Nuttall (57no) and Arkam Asif (45) top scored for Altofts, while Farrukh Alam (4-40) was the pick of the Carlton bowlers.

Second-placed Bankfoot continued their fine start to the season with a four-wicket victory over Spen Victoria.

Skipper Ollie Davison made a battling 55 as his side were bowled out for 141 with Sohail Hussain taking 5-42.

Shoukat Ali’s 63 helped Bankfoot to secure victory despite the efforts of young spin bowler Alex Leadbeater (4-61).

Brighouse are still searching for a first win after suffering a 36-run defeat at home to Gomersal. The visitors made 217-7 with Adam Greenwood (63), Arsaam Malik (45) and Jack Seddon (41) leading the way.

James Russell picked up 4-21 as Brighouse made 181-9 in reply. Wajid Hussain top scored with 38.
