HANGING Heaton have a home tie against Pudsey St Lawrence tomorrow in the second round (last 16) of the JCT600 Bradford League's Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup.

But Saints' cricket chairman Paul Hutchison says: "It has the feel of a quarter-final or a semi-final.

"We are the holders, and Hanging Heaton are a strong team who have recruited well.

"They are well organised by 'Mouse' (Gary Fellows) but have been slightly weakened because Josh Shaw is not available to bowl and David Paynter has hung up his boots."

Tomorrow will be the second meeting in successive days between the clubs as second-placed St Lawrence host seventh-placed Hanging Heaton in Division One today, and Hutchison added: "We are benefitting from having a settled team but we are missing a strike bowler.

"Ollie Ashford has gone to Raistrick, although we are hoping to have him back soon.

"However, this means that Josh Wilson has had a couple of games for the first team and has done well."

The other tie that catches Hutchison's eye is Woodlands, who haven't been in the final since 2008, hosting New Farnley.

He said: "New Farnley are the 'Manchester City' of the league – the cash boys, who can beat anyone on their day – but it will be interesting to see what side they put out tomorrow as they haven't always had their strongest side out on a Sunday."

Woodlands skipper Pieter Swanepoel said: “We haven’t done as well in the cups as I would like in recent seasons. At times we have underestimated our opponents to our cost.

“I am sure that won’t be the case against New Farnley. They will be gunning for us after we beat them on the first day of the season.

“It is important for our club to be successful in cups. Extra home games mean the club can earn more money, so it is up to us to do our best.”

There are two more all top-flight ties, with Cleckheaton entertaining Undercliffe and Lightcliffe hosting Saltaire.
