SUMMER rugby is here and don’t you just love it?

The weather has been beautiful towards the end of this week and I hope it stays fine for Sunday’s game against Doncaster.

Donny will be a real challenge given that they have had a change of coach, with Paul Cooke having been replaced by Gary Thornton.

A new man in charge usually provokes a response in a team and we need to ensure that we show the right enthusiasm this weekend.

Thornton is a well-respected coach who has been around for a while and his players showed what they were capable of earlier this season.

It was a tough game at the Keepmoat Stadium and Doncaster never went away, so we know we have to be on top of our game.

We just need to prepare better this time and make sure that our quality shines through.

I attended a testimonial event for my good friend Ali Lauitiiti this week with a few of the other Bradford boys.

Ali is a great guy, very big on his religion, and I tend to see him quite a lot.

The Kiwi boys and Islanders are all pretty close and we meet up on a regular basis.

It was a tough game down at London last week but we came through it in the end, which kept our winning run going.

The good news is that all the players are now back in contention as we approach the Super Eights.

There are a few guys such as Nathan Conroy, Adam Brook, Dave Petersen, Matty Blythe and Chris Ulugia either on loan or dual-reg at different clubs in the Championship or League 1.

Other boys such as Harry Siejka and Jake Mullaney are moving back towards full fitness, which will give Jimmy a selection headache as the business end of the season approaches.

As a team I think we are ticking along nicely.

I also feel there is plenty more to come from us and it’s just about maintaining our consistency and staying focused.

On a personal level, I am relatively happy with how I am performing. As with the team, though, I believe the best could be yet to come.
