Jamie Foster column

Perhaps the best way of summing up the Hull game was by saying it was a tough day all round.

It was a weird kind of atmosphere for me after my time there last year but I was there to do a job and I went there 100 per cent professional.

I didn’t go there thinking I was going to give them any chances, it’s just not the way it works at this level.

We tried to go there and give a good account of ourselves but ended up getting left frustrated because we just didn’t really seem to get going.

Platty went off injured early on and Danny Addy came into a position he wasn’t meant to be playing in.

It was a big disruption because all the training in the week had been me at full back and Platty on the left wing.

I remember getting told that things were getting switched around and I was so frustrated that I had to walk out to the left wing.

I was kicking myself quite a few times throughout the game thinking I could have offered something around the middle and trying to create chances.

Things were just passing us by and against quality teams you can’t let them off the hook because they will punish you and that’s what they did in the end.

Now it’s on to Cas this weekend. I know quite a few of their players and I’m good mates with Jamie Ellis, who will be in their halves and be kicking for them.

I might be against Richard Owen if I start on the wing, which is probably the way it’s looking.

I know how he works as well, and he’s another very good player, but I think Cas have bought very well too.

Michael Shenton has gone back there and then you have the likes of Lee Gilmour and Jordan Tansey.

But as I said earlier this week, it’s about what we do and we know that we need to get back on track.
