New dad Brett Kearney has been one of the Bulls’ best players this season but he insisted: “I can do even better.”

The Australian full back has been a hugely influential presence in defence and attack and was outstanding during last weekend’s win over St Helens.

Kearney, who yesterday celebrated the birth of daughter Ruby-Moon, has weighed in with five tries this year but he feels there is much more to come.

“It’s good to be getting over the line but I think my form is still a little bit patchy,” he said.

“While I’m helping the team by getting over the line and doing my job in other places, I’m happy. But I’m looking to get even better – and I think I can.”

Nevertheless, Kearney has been left delighted by his side’s recent improved form which has seen them win three of their last four games.

He paid tribute to in-form winger Jason Crookes following his highly impressive early-season form.

“Crookesy has been here since I came and he’s always had the talent,” said 28-year-old Kearney.

“It was about getting some confidence and he’s consolidated his spot on the left wing there.

“He’s doing his own job and more and his desire is there for all to see with his finishing and determination to get over the line.

“He’s been fantastic for us this year and I’d say he is one of the most improved players in Super League.

“Keith Lulia will only help Crookesy. Keith has played a few games for us this year and is obviously a quality player.

“The more conditions improve, the more his game will come to the fore.”

Olivier Elima will miss Sunday’s visit of Salford to Odsal due to a one-game ban following an off-the-ball challenge against St Helens stand-off Lee Gaskell during last weekend’s win.
