Bulls chairman Peter Hood expects the club’s pursuit of a new prop to reach a conclusion this week.

Coach Mick Potter is currently in Australia scouring the market for a front-rower and has spoken to an unnamed player about moving to Odsal.

While Bradford are remaining tight-lipped about his identity, Hood admitted he is a prop currently plying his trade in the NRL.

The Bulls supremo, who confirmed Brent Kite and David Shillington are not on the club’s radar, is hopeful that talks are nearing a successful completion.

Hood said: “There are conversations ongoing at this moment in time with a certain player’s management team and those discussions will be concluded either way in the not too distant future.

“Mick is currently back home in Australia for six weeks but he and I are in regular contact, despite the time difference, and we expect an outcome shortly.”

While Potter’s priority is to help oversee the acquisition of a replacement for Andy Lynch, he has also used the trip to meet with one of his new recruits.

The Bulls boss this week spent time with Keith Lulia, one of five signings for the 2012 campaign.

Lulia agreed a two-year deal and will arrive at Bradford from Newcastle Knights, having played under Potter as a youngster at St George Illawarra.

Hood added: “Mick met with Keith Lulia this week and they had a long discussion about next season. Like our four other new signings (Adrian Purtell, Luke Gale, Jarrod Sammut and Elliot Kear), we are very confident that Keith will make his mark at Odsal in 2012.”

Hood said Potter’s break Down Under could prove beneficial in more ways than one.

He added: “Although Mick is primarily spending time with friends and family, he’s also speaking to a lot of people in the game about all kinds of football matters.

“It’s an intelligence-gathering exercise. Mick is talking to other coaches about how certain players may fare in Super League this year, swapping ideas with them and generally looking to pick up any ideas that may benefit the Bulls.”
