‘Job done’ was the way Bulls boss Steve McNamara saw his side’s 58-16 Challenge Cup win against Leigh Centurions.

Bradford scored ten tries to thump their Championship visitors but McNamara refused to let the scoreline skew his view on the game.

Despite being pleased with some of the plays put on, he still felt the Bulls lacked sharpness and knows they will need to up their game for the return to Super League action next week.

He said: “I think it’s a case of job done.

“We blew a little bit hot and cold throughout the game but I’ve got to be happy that we’re through to the next round of the competition with a reasonable scoreboard.

“I still think we were quite a bit off to be fair. We weren’t as sharp as we have been.

“We got the chance to roll a few people round and give them game-time and we scored some attractive tries, showing another side to our game.”

But McNamara does believe his three-quarters in particular will have benefitted from the chance to play a little off-the-cuff.

“They ran quick when they got in the clear,” he said.

“Menzies and Sheriffe put on a couple of special plays, one in each half, and we showed some good speed on the edges.”

Victory booked the Bulls a place in the quarter-finals of the competition, with the draw to be held at 5.15pm tomorrow following the game between Crusaders and Catalans.

Asked whether he had a preference on who his side face next, McNamara said: “Not at all. Our attention turns to Super League.

“We’ve got seven days to recover now before what is a very important game against Wakefield.”
