The Bulls are confident there will be no snags with the signing of Matt Orford, despite the threat of legal action from one-time target Chris Walker.

Scrum half Orford has filled Bradford’s final overseas quota spot for 2010, meaning there is no room left to sign Walker.

But Walker’s manager Chris Orr claims the deal for Orford should not have gone ahead and has approached the Rugby Football League and Rugby League Players’ Association about possible action.

“I can’t see how the RFL in England can go ahead and register Orford,” Orr is reported as saying.

“Chris will be acting as if he’s going over there to play, so either the contract will be honoured or the club will come up with an appropriate alternative.”

But it is believed the Gold Coast Titans utility back, who was also a target for the Crusaders, never finalised a move to Odsal and he was never unveiled as a Bradford player.

Bulls chairman Peter Hood said: “I was unaware of the comments made by Chris Walker’s manager as I have been away at the Super League convention.

“I have absolutely no comment to make on those matters. We made an announcement about Matt Orford’s signing on Monday and there’s nothing more to add to that.”

Under Super League rules, the Bulls are allowed to include five players on their overseas quota for the 2010 season.

Returning star Steve Menzies has retained one of the spots, while the remaining places are taken by Brett Kearney from Cronulla and Orford, Glenn Hall and Heath L’Estrange, the club’s three off-season signings from Manly.
