Steve McNamara reckons the Bulls’ awesome away support could prove a major influence in tomorrow night’s must-win contest.

While much has been made of some average attendances at Odsal this season, Bradford have maintained fanatical backing on the road.

Seven of their 11 Super League wins have come away from Grattan Stadium, a fact which bodes well for their trip to the KC Stadium.

McNamara admits part of the reason for his side’s success on their travels is that they have played with less pressure.

But he has also often praised the sheer vocal support of fans and the impact they have, especially after victories at places such as Perpignan and London.

Ahead of tomorrow’s contest, the boss added: “Our fans have a huge part to play. I hope they get across to Hull in large numbers.

“Our away support has been tremendously loyal all season following us all across the country.

“We’ve had some extremely tough periods throughout the year but they’ve always been there and always supported us.

“Thankfully, over the last few weeks, we’ve been able to give our home support something to cheer about as well.

“We’re hoping everyone has been encouraged by that.

“I know it’s not cheap to get across to Hull but certainly the more people that do get there, we will all appreciate it.”

As well as a Bulls victory, St Helens need to beat Catalans Dragons tomorrow night to see McNamara’s men sneak into the play-offs.

However, the coach insists he won’t be trying to keep up with what’s going on at Knowsley Road.

“There’s no point,” said McNamara. “It’s not one of those situations as we have to win regardless of what happens there.

“It’s not an issue for us at all. We don’t want to be distracted from what we need to do. We are going to the KC to perform well and perform well for 80 minutes and we aren’t going to be distracted by what’s happening in any other matches.

“I am sure the players are aware of the importance of the game but it’s not something we have discussed.

“The sun is out and we have just been getting on with our training.

“We’re going to a fantastic arena, a great stadium and we’re all looking forward to the challenge.

“We are looking at a similar approach to the last few weeks and if we do that then we will be fine.”

McNamara has named the same 19-man squad as last week but will give late checks to Dave Halley (dead leg) and Mike Worrincy (back) before finalising his side. Both players are expected to be fit.
