Rising star Dave Halley hopes he has done enough to earn himself a new deal at Odsal - and keep his place in the Bulls side.

The 21-year-old has been a revelation since filling in at full back against Leeds last month, enjoying his most consistent run yet in Super League.

Growing in confidence and stature with every performance, he should make his fifth consecutive start at Hull KR on Sunday.

Halley's dazzling display was one of the few positives to come out of the hammering at Leeds but he has also been influential in helping the Bulls win each of their three games since.

"I'm glad I proved it wasn't a one-off," said the player, whose only three previous starts had come on the wing last year.

"Everything since has gone brilliantly and with each game I think I've got more involved in different aspects.

"At Hull I was playing a lot more from dummy half and trying to get out of there.

"Against Cas, my main goal that day was to take every ball on the full and get us going to halfway.

"It's all about confidence and I am enjoying things at the moment."

With his pace and flair, Halley has proved a valuable asset in the Bulls' resurgence, proving a more than capable deputy for the crocked Michael Platt.

His broken-field running and support play has been excellent - he scored against Harlequins - while defensively the Wales international has been sound.

Academy product Halley penned a one-year deal at the end of last season and the former Dudley Hill amateur would love to extend his stay with his home-town club.

He said: "I wanted to sign this year's contract and then put fate in my own hands to see if I can earn another. Hopefully I can and it'd mean the world if I could sign again."

Great Britain squad member Platt is nearing fitness after his hamstring problems but Halley won't be automatically giving up his spot.

"I don't want to always be picked because someone else is injured, I want to be there by right," he said.

"I know it'll be hard when Platty's back and fully fit because he is such a good player but I know what I must do."

Halley hopes to enjoy a deja vu against Hull KR - he scored with his first touch against them on debut at Odsal last April, almost a year to the day of this weekend's clash.

He recalled: "That was a great moment - and I wouldn't mind the same again.

"Hull KR are playing well at the moment though and it will be a really tough game over there. They have some fast, skilful players and are a lot better than last year.

"But we're confident. We got some stick at the start of the year but everyone is performing brilliantly now and not many teams will be able to hold us with all these great players we've got."
