Lesley Vainikolo today sensationally won a call-up to England's RBS 6 Nations squad - just six months after switching codes from the Bulls.
The Bradford legend has been a revelation following his move to Gloucester and is currently the Guinness Premiership's top try-scorer but the announcement has shocked many.
Although a Kiwi international in rugby league, the Tongan powerhouse has qualified for England on residency grounds like another Bulls convert - Henry Paul - before him.
World Cup captain Phil Vickery has been retained as England skipper but notable omissions from the squad include Josh Lewsey and former Wigan star Andy Farrell.
Vainikolo, 28, is currently in New Zealand having flown home last week following the death of his father, just weeks after his elder brother also passed away.
Whether Ashton will unleash The Volcano in the Six Nations opener against Wales at Twickenham on February 2 is unclear.
David Strettle and Paul Sackey would appear to be away and clear as first-choice wing contenders, and it could be Vainikolo will have to content himself with just being part of the squad.
