BULLS captain Lee Smith complimented his side’s professional performances as the Bradford Bulls made it a perfect Easter period.

With wins against promotion challengers Oldham and Hunslet in the challenge cup, setting up a tie with Super League outfit Warrington Wolves, the Bulls showed their quality.

Smith also commented on the resurgent form of Dane Chisholm who looked back to his best, leading the side around the field in the absence of Joe Keyes, against Hunslet.

“I think we showed our toughness against Oldham, there was a point where we kept them out with 31 tackles on our line which is a real compliment,” Smith said.

“We came out a bit soft in the second half, conceding a few tries early on but we came through the other side of that and managed to put on a few points.”

“Oldham will be one of our bigger tests this season, so to produce a performance like we did is pleasing, we managed to keep our and focus in on our play”

“On Monday the conditions were absolutely horrendous, the boys did immensely well to play the rugby they did, it was a real professional performance to get the job done.

“The win obviously set up a mouth-watering tie, something for everyone involved with the club to be excited about, it’ll be a huge test for us as players but were looking forward to it.

“Dane (Chisholm) came out of the Hunslet came last month and was a little disappointed with his performance, he worked hard in training and really turned it around over the last two games.

“Against Oldham you saw his quality setting up tries and finishing them off, then at Hunslet with no Joe (Keyes) he really led the side with his kicking game, he was a pivotal part of the two wins.”

Bradford move back into League One action next as they travel to Workington to face ex-bulls star Leon Pryce’s side.

Workington boast a quality side with the additions of former super league players Ryan Bailey, Jamie Foster and Jordan Tansey.

While the side has struggled for consistency this season, Smith believes it will prove another big test for the Bulls.

“I think it will be a fantastic day first of all, they have hyped it up on social media as their biggest game of the season, and I’m sure it will have been the game Leon Pryce was looking at first.

“As any Cumbrian side is they will be tough down the middle, and they have quality outside as do we. It’s going to be a good match-up and good advert for this league.

“The travelling is never ideal and that has an effect, but hopefully we can get a few of the Bulls faithful down there to cheer us on, they can be an 18th man at times.”
