JOHN Kear is closing in on a crowd-pleasing addition to his Bulls squad.

The Odsal coach is giving nothing away on the identity of his next signing but confirmed the final details are being sorted out.

He hopes to have his latest recruit on board for next Friday's home friendly against Toronto Wolfpack.

Kear said: "It is getting very close indeed but I think it will be after the weekend. He's a very good player and one that the fans will certainly appreciate.

"It should be done within a week and if we get him registered in time, he'll be playing against Toronto."

Kear's plans to feature some youngsters in the side at Dewsbury on Sunday have been hit by the wintry weather.

The squad were unable to practice outside earlier in the week and that is likely to influence the coach's thinking for Paul Sykes' testimonial.

Joe Keyes may also have to wait another game to make his comeback for the same reason.

Kear, who held a coaches meeting last night to finalise the Bulls line-up, said: "The weather has obviously put a kibosh on one or two things.

"The principles are there but it's whether we have the time now to practically implement them.

"I don't want to send those young men out without an understanding of what I want. We'll have a chat and see if we feel they can manage it.

"It's also affected things with Joe Keyes because the intention on Tuesday was to put him in a tackle situation; making them and being tackled.

"But we just couldn't do that. We can't plan because we didn't get him on the field."
