LEIGH Beattie believes the capture of four Leeds Rhinos players on loan for the next month will provide a much-needed lift.

Sam Hallas, Jordan Lilley and Mikolaj Oledzki have returned to Odsal after earlier stints, while teenager Cameron Smith has also bolstered the ranks.

After four defeats in a row, the reinforcements have been welcomed by the Bulls acting head coach, who said: "It's a morale boost. After the results, the lads have needed some picking up. Defensively, some people had let themselves down massively."

Smith may be an unknown quantity to Bulls fans but Beattie has seen him in action at under-19 level, when he was instrumental in the Rhinos academy's 40-6 victory over his Bradford youngsters in March.

Beattie said: "He's a talent. He plays back row or loose forward and is very skilful and has got great feet. He is definitely one for the future."

The 18-year-old made his first-team debut for Leeds last season, when he also starred for England's academy during their tour to Australia.

The return of prop Oledzki, who made his Super League debut last weekend at Catalan having scored on his full debut the previous week against Doncaster in the Challenge Cup, will also add much-needed firepower up front.

"Getting him back is a massive bonus as everyone knows we have struggled in that department," said Beattie.

The Bulls chief admitted that this weekend's break may have come at a good time, enabling injured players to recover and giving the squad a chance to regroup after being stuck on minus two points since before Easter.

"Maybe it's been playing in the back of people's minds – but we need to get those two points off quick because we are running out of time," said Beattie.

"It doesn't get any easier with London and Hull KR up next. But we'll get our spirit back, get some heads up and look forward to that London game at home."
