GEOFF Toovey's long wait to be take the Odsal helm could be over in a matter of days.

The Australian has been in limbo since arriving in England at the end of January to take over as Bulls head coach.

Toovey flew in 75 days ago but has been restricted to watching duties until he is given the necessary visa to start work.

That has been a much-delayed process while the club rebuild but operations director Russ McFarlane is confident the matter will be settled very soon.

McFarlane said: "The visa gets delayed by things such as you need a bank account and other official numbers.

"We've got to the stage where the border licence application is in. It's been in for over a week, so we're expecting that back any day. Then you can start applying for your visa.

"I'd love to say we've got a time frame but when you apply through the border agency, it's down to them.

"Once we have the application back and we have the licence, the type of visa for Geoff doesn't take that long to come through.

"We'll soon be able to start making announcements such as appointing Geoff officially to come and start coaching our players.

"But the team down there at the minute looking after the players have been excellent. They've all been working hard to make sure the team are ready to go out every week and do their best."

Samoan rugby sevens star Phoenix Hunapo-Nofoa is in the same boat as Toovey. He signed for the Bulls on a one-year deal but still cannot join up with his new club.

McFarlane said: "It's a new business and we've had to set everything up afresh. We've had to tackle it one thing at a time."
