BRADFORD Bulls’ administrator Gary Pettit says he is confident a new owner can be found and in place within two weeks but said while the fat lady was warming up, she wasn’t quite ready to start singing.

“We had a very positive weekend, doubling the number of interested parties looking at buying the club to 12 which, without a doubt, is just fantastic,” the managing director of PBC Business Recovery told the Telegraph & Argus.

“We are working hard. We sent out non-disclosure packs over the weekend and got four of them came back on Monday morning.

“Out of the 12 who’ve come forward, obviously some of them are not going to go anywhere but it shows the level of interest.

“It is our view that people are interested. They are people who have been involved in rugby, who know how it ticks, who know how the game goes and how it works and are confident they can get the Bulls back to where they belong. That’s the person I am looking for.

“Two of the 12, though it is very early indications, are looking positive. I spoke to them over the weekend and they have an open and pragmatic outlook. I asked them if they had thought of consortium possibilities. Sometimes bringing a lot of heads together works well. They said they hadn’t thought of that but would now.

“I also made it quite clear that we want to know their experience and where they saw themselves taking the club, and how?

“They need their heart in sport and rugby league in particular.”

Pettit also made it clear he was aware time was important.

He added: “We hope we will have someone in place within the next two weeks. The longer a club is in administration the harder it is for people to secure sponsorship, for instance. The new season starts in February and there is Christmas in between which is only five weeks away. February will be here before we know it.

“I met with the RFL on Monday in Manchester and they were aware we all needed to be singing from the same hymn sheet. It was a very positive situation.

“Personally I think this club is ripe for development and quite frankly the club should be back where it belongs but it will take time, probably three to five years to get them back up.

“You’ve got to be positive about these things. I know the passion and emotion of supporters and have had the disappointment of relegation with my club Northampton Saints.

“If I didn’t think there was a great future ahead for the Bulls I’d close the door, put the lights out and walk away.

“But I do think something good is going to come out of this.

“The fat lady hasn’t started singing. She may be gargling at the moment but she’s not singing yet.”
