ROHAN Smith believes the Bulls will be easy on the eye again next season but is also determined to ensure they will not be pushed around.

Although Smith’s men failed to finish in the top four last term, they ended the campaign with a flourish by winning the Championship Shield.

It marked the club’s first piece of silverware since the 2006 campaign and was characterised by some high-scoring wins as Bradford put at least 80 points on Oldham and Sheffield en-route to the Shield final.

Yet Smith is also keen to see an improvement in the Bulls' physicality and reckons the new recruits he has signed will toughen up the team in the 2017 campaign.

The Australian head coach, who succeeded Jimmy Lowes midway through last season, said: “I think the players believed in some of the principles and practices I was working towards and derived some real confidence from that.

“We had some success against teams who really couldn’t stick with us over an 80-minute period too often towards the back end of the season.

“What we are really working towards is being able to play a good style when it’s there to be played.

“But we also want to be very rugged and improve our physicality so that in the muddy pitches we are more than prepared to roll up our sleeves and bang heads with whoever wants to bang heads with us.

“We’ve made some changes to our roster which improve our ability to be rugged and physical but we need to be able to play all sorts of different ways.

“We want to play tough and hard but also play skilfully by using our eyes and our awareness.”
