ROHAN Smith has revealed he will strongly consider bringing players he has previously worked with in the NRL to Bradford.

The new Bulls coach is currently assessing his squad as he prepares to head to the UK and take the reins at Odsal.

Smith is renowned for building strong relationships with players he has coached and admits he will consider all options when it comes to bolstering his resources.

The vastly-experienced 35-year-old, who is joining Bradford from Gold Coast Titans, will also speak to his uncle Tony Smith about the prospect of taking players on loan from Warrington.

"I think most coaches when they move to different clubs, whether it's straight away or down the track, tend to gravitate towards players they know and trust from previous experiences," said Rohan Smith.

"I've worked at Newcastle, Penrith, Sydney Roosters, the Warriors and the Titans, so there are definitely a lot of players who I've had strong relationships with and maintained since I've moved clubs.

"It's not as simple as just bringing over the guys you like because there are restrictions on things like qualifying criteria and budgets.

"Every team has its needs in different areas too – but I have no doubt that down the track there will be players who I've coached who will be interested in coming to Bradford and I'll be interested in bringing them over.

"Initially it's about introducing myself to the guys who are there and making sure that they know I'm there to help them as individuals to become better players and realise their dreams in rugby league.

"That's really what I'm about, so the accumulation of that will build a strong team and a strong club going forward.

"It's about getting that connection with the individual players and me showing the players that I'm there to help them."

Smith has amassed a wealth of contacts during his time in rugby league, a sport he has worked in for well over a decade.

He will speak to his uncle at Warrington and is already in regular contact with assistant Wolves coach Richard Agar.

"I guess that's what sport and life is all about – having good relationships with people," said the new Bulls boss.

"I'll definitely be speaking to Tony and I've had some contact with Richard Agar over the last couple of years, giving him some information on players Warrington have been looking to recruit from the NRL.

"What goes around comes around with that sort of stuff and I'll definitely be connecting with people I know over in the UK.

"I'll also be getting out to games to check out the competition and trying to learn as much about the Super League and Championship as I can and as quickly as I can."
