DANNY Addy admits he is open to the prospect of extending his current deal at the Bulls.

The homegrown star is contracted for the 2016 campaign and says the club has a special place in his heart following his progression through the youth ranks.

Addy enjoyed an outstanding season last term, earning regular praise from head coach Jimmy Lowes for his performances in the halves.

Indeed, Lowes even suggested that Addy could be among the growing list of English players being courted by top NRL clubs in Australia.

But the versatile Scotland international will remain at Odsal for the next year at least and is open to the prospect of extending his stay further.

The 24-year-old from Pontefract, who made 27 appearances last season, made his debut during the 2010 campaign.

“Obviously I’m contracted here at Bradford and as long as that’s the case then that’s what I’m focused on,” said Addy.

“I enjoy being here because it’s a great club and I’ve been a Bradford player for a long time now.

“The lads are great and it’s a really good club to be at.

“I’ve got another year left on my contract and we will probably talk again mid-season.

“While I’m here, I’m here and I’m not really focused on anything else at the moment.

“We’ve only got one goal and we came up short last season, so that can only make us better this year.”

Addy has seen many of his close friends leave Odsal in recent seasons and go on to bigger and better things elsewhere.

John Bateman, Thomas Burgess and Elliott Whitehead are now England regulars while Luke Gale and James Donaldson have also prospered since quitting Bradford.

“I see those lads every now and then and enjoy catching up with them,” said Addy.

“I’m over the moon for what they have achieved.

“Bateman recently signed a new four-year deal with Wigan, Whitehead has gone to Canberra and Galey got the call-up for England at the end of last year.

“I’m good mates with the Burgess boys too and if the opportunity came up, I could see myself in the NRL one day.

“But right now my focus is on helping Bradford get back where they belong – in Super League.”
