ROBBIE Hunter-Paul has declared himself satisfied with how the Bulls’ squad is taking shape.

The Odsal outfit have signed five new faces for the 2016 campaign in Oscar Thomas, Johnny Campbell, Mitch Clark, Jonathan Walker and Kris Welham.

The Bulls remain on the look-out for further signings but half-back or hooker Pita Godinet – recently released by Wakefield – is not thought to be on Jimmy Lowes’ radar.

Chief executive Hunter-Paul said: “I played against Johnny Campbell when I was at Leigh towards the back end of my career.

“I remember thinking 'who is this kid?' because it reminded me of trying to tackle my brother Henry when we were growing up.

“He sidestepped and spun at the same time and that's what Henry used to do when we were kids in the back yard.

“Johnny has had a horrendous leg break but he has come into a full-time environment now and, with the medical care we are giving him, his healing time should speed up quite quickly.”

On forwards Clark and Walker, Hunter-Paul added: “I'm going to label these two young guys the ‘Bash Brothers’ because both of them have got what I call 'mongrel' in them.

“They don't take a backward step and they have that physical aggression which they will look to impose on the teams they play against.

“It will the coaching staff's job to tailor that energy in the right place but we are confident with Chev Walker, Matt Diskin and Leigh Beattie on board, and Jimmy at the top of the pile, they will be able to do that.

“Oscar Thomas is a prospect and we’re going to put some timber on him and build him up physically as part of his development.”

The stand-out signing so far has been Welham, who this week penned a two-year deal at Bradford following his departure from Hull KR.

Hunter-Paul said of the centre: “I saw Kris come through at Hull KR and this guy knows how to get over the try-line.

“He's a similar shape to Michael Withers in that he's not the biggest bloke in the world but has dense muscle.

“He's a lean figure but has finishing capacity and ability to work the ball to the edges as well.

“He's a smart player and it's a bit of a coup for us. Steve Ferres and Jimmy have worked tirelessly to bring Kris to the club.”
