JAKE Mullaney believes victory over Wakefield and Salford in the next two games will take the Bulls a huge step towards promotion.

The Australian yesterday penned a new two-year contract that will keep him at Odsal until the end of 2017.

The versatile full back, who is aiming to shake off a back problem in time to face the Wildcats on Saturday, arrived from Salford on a one-year deal last winter.

He reckons the Bulls will be hard to stop if they can topple Wakefield and the Red Devils in the next week.

Mullaney said: "Wakefield is a big game for us and it's almost must-win, even though we are already one win from one.

"I think if we can get past them and Salford, then we are almost there. It's a big couple of weeks from us to see how we go."

Mullaney has struggled with a hamstring problem which has kept him sidelined for patches of this season.

But when he has played he has proved hard to stop and there were no doubts about his decision to stay.

"My form on the field has been quite good but I said at the start of the year that I wanted to stay injury free," said Mullaney.

"It hasn't quite worked out how I wanted – but I suppose in the end I've landed a new two-year contract, so that's what you're after.

"It will be steady for me over the next two years, so hopefully I can play well and the club moves forward.

"The Bulls have been good to me and I've really enjoyed myself so far. That helps because if you're enjoying yourself, then you want to stay with the club and the boys. That's what's happened.

"We're moving forward as a team and hopefully we can spend these next two years in Super League and I play well and so will the team.

"We've got a big job to do but we had a good win over Sheffield and it gives us confidence to build on now."
