RYAN Shaw got a bust nose for his troubles in last week's win over Halifax – but he is raring to go again at London Broncos tomorrow.

The Bulls full back collided with Tyler Dickinson as the pair contested a high kick and Shaw's face was splattered by the accidental collision.

Although Shaw was led from the field with blood pouring from his nose, to be replaced by James Mendeika, he did not suffer concussion and should keep his spot in the team at The Hive.

The Cumbrian said: "I'm not the best-looking lad anyway, so it's not done anything to ruin my looks has it? I was all right, it was just a load of blood more than anything.

"I don't think their lad meant to do it but I broke my nose and had to have had it straightened by our physio (Dan Ramsden), as well as having a few stitches.

"But I wasn't concussed. It just shocked me because there was a lot of blood and I didn't know where I was bleeding from.

"I'd have been fine to come back on but I'd had my stitches done and by the time I was done, Mendy (James Mendeika) was doing a good job at full back and the lads were playing well. Therefore there was no point changing it.

"It was just a shame I couldn't play the full game – but things like that happen and it was more painful afterwards, to be honest."

Mendeika slotted in well at full back after replacing Shaw early in the second half of the Summer Bash victory.

Shaw is aware of the pressure on him to keep his place, with former Warrington team-mate Mendeika breathing down his neck and Jake Mullaney on the comeback trail from injury.

The 22-year-old, who scored a try and superbly created another for Adrian Purtell last weekend, is the second-highest points scorer in the Championship this season with 132, which have come from 50 goals and eight tries.

"I've still got little things to improve on but I was happy with my first-half performance last week," said Shaw.

"You've got to be able to play under that pressure and I just want to cement a place in the team at full back, wing or centre.

"As long as I'm playing, I'm happy. We're that strong as a team and everybody is putting pressure on each other. We've got five or six players who haven't played yet and they could all step up."

Shaw is looking forward to facing the club where he enjoyed a brief loan spell from Warrington during the 2013 campaign, making two Super League appearances against Widnes and Leeds.

The full back recalled: "I was at London when Jamie Soward was there and I enjoyed it. But I would say 80 per cent of the team has changed since then, so it will be a lot different.

"They lost some of their better players to the likes of Cas at the end of last season but they have still got plenty of quality in their side."

Shaw is good pals with London centre Ben Hellewell and Rhys Williams after they shared lodgings together during their time at Warrington.

"I also lived with Oscar Thomas and Olsi Krasniqi, who was here at Bradford on trial during pre-season, during my loan spell at London," said Shaw.

Meanwhile, head coach Jimmy Lowes accepts the Bulls will have a challenge on our hands this weekend after London enjoyed a good win against Sheffield last Saturday.

But he admitted: "We would have had challenge on our hands anyway and for (head coach) Andrew Henderson to come out of retirement and play showed real character and a desire to roll his sleeves up for the cause.

"I like to be consistent and have a settled side but that doesn't mean I won't change it if I feel it needs changing."
