JAY Pitts believes there is “a lot of improvement” still to come from the Bulls heading into Sunday’s visit of London Broncos.

The in-form back-rower has emerged as one of the Bulls’ most impressive performers in the opening weeks of the season.

He has notched five tries already this term, including two over Easter against Halifax and Dewsbury, but admits there is more to come from Jimmy Lowes’ men.

Pitts said: “Against Dewsbury on Monday we were very good in parts, but poor in other parts.

“It’s stuff we need to work on and there is still a lot of improvement there and I think everyone can see that.

“We need to cut out the penalties and maybe the silly offloads and things like that.

“But we’re still working on it and we’re only going to get better.”

Lowes brought in over a dozen players during the off-season and Pitts said the team needs time to gel.

He added: “It does take a bit of time to mould players’ strengths and weaknesses but I think we’re getting on well together now.

“We’re starting to see when to play off the cuff and when to run and when not to run.

“There are no easy games in the Championship but we’re only going to get better the more we play together.”

Pitts is expecting a stern test this weekend from a Broncos side who have climbed into the top four on the back of three successive wins.

He said: “They’ll definitely be coming up here looking for the win and it’s going to be a massive game again.

“We need to be up for it mentally and be ready to go.”
