FORMER Wakefield boss Richard Agar reckons the Bulls might just have struck gold with the recruitment of Harry Siejka and Lucas Walshaw.

Agar knows the pair well after coaching them at Belle Vue and believes they will prove a success at Bradford.

He signed scrum half Siejka last season, although he made only nine appearances during an injury-disrupted campaign with the Wildcats.

Yet Agar insists the Australian's quality is not up for debate and said: "Harry came recommended to us at Wakefield.

"It was difficult for him last season because he came in late and didn't have a pre-season with us.

"He was probably just getting over some injuries at the time and then got his chance when the team were affected by injuries and were struggling with go-forward and momentum.

"But he's a young player with a terrific skill set and he kicks the ball exceptionally well.

"I think Harry is a young player who is really determined to prove himself in the game. I'm sure he will do well at Bradford."

Walshaw, meanwhile, has spent the past three years with Wakefield and the versatile forward is gearing up for a big campaign at Odsal.

Like Siejka, he has signed a two-year deal with the Bulls and Agar said: "Lucas has looked like a world-beater at times for Wakefield.

"He burst onto the scene and we tried him in a number of positions. I'm still probably a bit unsure whether he is more suited to being a back-rower or a centre.

"He's one of those guys who came into the team and did a really fantastic job for us. I think the key for Lucas moving forward is to make himself a consistent player week in and week out.

"He made some significant improvements this year with his physical condition and I think if he maintains that then it's really going to help him.

"Lucas has a huge presence and he tackles people – almost swamps people – defensively almost as well as anyone I've seen.

"I've seen him handle blokes like Gareth Hock and Willie Manu and do really good jobs on them defensively.

"When he played in the centres last year, he started to get a bit of early ball and became a really big physical presence for us.

"For Lucas it's about finding the right level of consistency – but he's a young player and he's starting to build up his experience.

"He has certainly got the physical attributes and he just needs to keep building on those, which I'm sure Jimmy (Lowes) will help him to do."
