Adam Sidlow finally completed his move to the Bulls from Salford yesterday and admitted the opportunity was simply too good to turn down.

The powerhouse prop had one year remaining on his contract at Salford but Bradford’s two-year offer meant he needed no persuading to join Francis Cummins’ squad.

The arrival of the front-rower, 25, had been mooted for several weeks and will go some way towards filling the void left by the departure of Craig Kopczak, Bryn Hargreaves and Tom Burgess.

Sidlow, an imposing figure at 6ft 4in and more than 17stone, will wear the number 27 jersey and, as things stand, could be the Bulls’ final new recruit ahead of the 2013 campaign.

Sidlow, a Wiganer who began his professional career at Widnes, underwent fitness tests yesterday before putting pen to paper and meeting his new team-mates for lunch at Odsal.

“I’ve been watching rugby league since I was a little boy with my dad,” said Sidlow, who will hope to establish himself as one of Cummins’ first-choice starting props.

“For many years Bradford were always up there or thereabouts, winning trophies.

“I really enjoyed myself at Salford, but this is a big step up in my eyes and I’m looking forward to the challenge here.”

Salford are currently embroiled in a financial crisis and Sidlow paid tribute to the City Reds for releasing him from the final year of his contract.

He added: “I’d like to thank (football director) Steve Simms and (chairman) John Wilkinson because they have both been brilliant in letting me go.

“They said that if Bradford had a longer-term deal for me then they wouldn’t step in my way.

“I felt the security of being at Brad-ford for the next two years was a big step up and I’m delighted to be here.”

Cummins has been chasing Sidlow for several weeks and feels his age, physicality and astute offloading game will be of great benefit to the Bulls.

The Bulls coach, who also has Manase Manuokafoa, Nick Scruton, Warrington loanee Ben Evans and potentially Jamie Langley on his roster of props, said: “Adam is a big lad, he can get forward and he’s got a great offload as well so he brings another dimension to our attack.

“We’ve been trying to sign him for a while, and it has taken some time, but he’s here now and I’m really pleased we’ve finally got our man.

“He showed what he could do at times last season and did particularly well against Huddersfield in the Magic Weekend game at the Etihad Stadium. I’m delighted to have him on board.”
