Omar Khan last night revealed that Akbar’s managing director Shabir Hussain had offered to donate a significant sum to the Bulls over the next three years.
The Telegraph & Argus reported in July how Hussain was willing to give the club a significant sum “unconditionally” for the next three years after he left a consortium which was vying to save the Bulls from administration.
That has not yet materialised but Khan told a fans’ forum last night that an agreement with Hussain had been struck following a meeting between the two restaraunt owners this week.
Khan said: “We’ve both been very busy but Shabir and I met up at my restaurant in Bradford this week and he’s agreed to make this donation to the club.
"He gave me a book as a special present and told me that the Asian community were right behind me and the Bulls and what we are trying to do to make it a community club."
Honorary Bulls chairman Gerry Sutcliffe finally admitted defeat in the club’s bid to claw back central monies from the RFL for 2013.
Sutcliffe said: “It’s gone but there is no use crying over it - we just have to keep moving forward with the momentum that is now behind the club.”
Bulls coach Francis Cummins said the search for new recruits and an Under-19s coach was ongoing but declared himself delighted with the attitude of his players during pre-season.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed that concerts would be held at Odsal in May, July and August or September and that the club would seek to revive ‘Bullmania’ on matchdays.
