City have fought off any potential predators by extending Nahki Wells' deal until next summer.

Like fellow striker Ross Hannah, the Bermudian's present one-year contract had an option for the club to keep him for a further season.

The 21-year-old netted his seventh goal for City in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Accrington.

Joint chairman Mark Lawn said: "Nahki is one of those unusual lads that's actually benefited from not being over-coached.

"He causes problems with his natural speed and ability. I don't think people know what he is going to do next.

"Phil (Parkinson) is working on parts of his game and he has still got a lot to learn. But you don't want to lose that natural spirit from him."
