City's search for a first win goes on after Dagenham made it three defeats in four this afternoon.

John Still's side have never lost at Valley Parade and they maintained that record to leave the Bantams stuck at the wrong end of League Two.

The game made a breathless start as Gavin Tomlin was inches away from scoring for Dagenham inside the first ten seconds.

But City, helped by some hapless goalkeeping, came straight back with Jack Compton lobbing against the bar.

Ross Hannah fired just over as the home side had a real go in the opening 20 minutes.

But they were grateful for an amazing miss from Tomlin after Martin Hansen had saved a point-blank header by Sam Williams.

The only surprise was that it took 27 minutes for the first goal. But Dagenham got it as Hansen denied Williams again and Jon Nurse tapped home the rebound.

Michael Bryan curled over two minutes into the second half but a hesitation from Hanson nearly gifted a goal to Williams.

Guy Branston denied Dagenham sub Damian Scannell a certain second with 15 minutes left before matters boiled over with a free-for-all which saw four players booked.

Hannan almost rescued a point with a vicious effort which Chris Lewington palmed behind. But it needed a good save at the other end from Hanson in stoppage time to keep out Brian Woodall.
