Hanson fee finally sorted out

James Hanson’s transfer fee from Guiseley has finally been settled by tribunal.

Six months of haggling over the City striker’s worth was brought to an end by a league panel in Manchester today.

The final figure is thought to be around £7,500, with a sell-on clause for the non-leaguers should Hanson move on from Valley Parade. City have also promised to play a pre-season friendly at Nethermoor.

The deal is similar to that which the Bantams got from Barnet for Luke Medley following an independent hearing.

Joint-chairman Julian Rhodes, who attended the tribunal alongside Hanson, said: “What they were awarded was very similar to what we had offered.

“We are happy with the verdict and I hope that Guiseley feel the same. We would like to think that we can retain our good relationship with them.

“We’re glad that the matter has finally been resolved and it will be nice to move forward.”

It was the first instance of a part-time club ever taking a league side to a tribunal.

Nice to get a bit of good news this week for a change. He looks a good prospect does James, shame he cant play at Torquay on Saturday. Fingers crossed we can get a result for all us City fans and especially the ones that are making the long trek down there!! Up the Bantoms.

i just wish Thornew had been fit to play alongside Hanson...surely this would have made more use of James attributes and brought us more goals but this is football!! Fingers crossed they can partner each other a few times between now and the end of the season

Not sure about partnering Hanson with Thorne. Personally, I think the Hanson/Bully partnership has more worth and, when fit, should be the option we go with. Then we could have Evans/Thorne on the bench to provide a different kind of partnership and something different for our opponents to think about.

The news regarding Hanson's fee is good. However, we have heard claims and counter-claims from both clubs claiming the offers/asking price was between £2,500 to £50,000. As we have been told to pay a 'high four figure sum' and yet both clubs are 'happy with the outcome', who was telling the truth?

We must have been expecting to have to pay up-to £15k, as Guiseley claimed this was the fee they paid for Hanson's ex-striking partner. If this is so, can the board not release the £7,500 we saved, to enable us to bring in a player or 2 on a month's loan? My suggestion would be for a defender and a striker.

You would know all about that, also why do you feel the need to comment on here. Stick to bell end road and just watch your seaon fall apart! Best comedy ever going for the fa cup which you have no chance of winning and totally ruining your season. I guess captain birdseye your Chelsea loving chairman will be glad of the cash in his bank balance. We might be crap and in a lower league but our attendances don`t rise and fall like a tarts knickers depending on results! CTID

Pity he is on his way to a Scots prem club or town, there is nothing wrong with his back, he's not playing because the tribunal would have given Guiseley more money.Allegedly. Crying shame

Action from Bradford City's game with Shrewsbury. City have been told to pay Guiseley around £7,500 for James Hanson, with a sell-on clause also part of the deal
